Introducing the TierUp Blog

We're launching the TierUp blog. Here's what you can expect from it, and why we think it's worth your reading time.

Why a blog from an API proxy company?

TierUp exists because the AI model landscape moves too fast to keep up with. Models launch weekly, benchmarks reshuffle, prices change without warning — and every developer routing requests to a hardcoded model name inherits all of that churn. Our product answer is tier-based routing: you pick a performance level, we pick the model.

But the same research that powers our routing decisions is useful on its own. We read the release notes, run the comparisons, and track the price sheets anyway. This blog is where that work becomes public.

What we'll cover

Fresh AI news, reviewed — not rehashed. When something significant happens — a model release, a benchmark result, a pricing change — we'll write about what it actually means for people building on these APIs, not just repeat the press release.

Model performance. A quarter or more of our posts will dig into how models actually perform: new releases, benchmark results, eval methodology, and where the marketing claims hold up or don't.

The cost of AI APIs. Another quarter will cover what these APIs really cost: pricing comparisons across providers, where the hidden costs live (retries, long contexts, output tokens), and how to get the same quality for less. This is the problem TierUp was built around — we route to models priced well below retail flagship rates — so expect strong opinions backed by real numbers.

Cadence

We're committing to a steady stream of posts over the coming weeks — more than a dozen to start. Each one is grounded in a fresh review of what's happening, written for developers who ship with these APIs every day.

If you'd rather skip the reading and just get well-routed models at a fair price, the playground needs no signup.
